On Thursday, September 30, the RNA-Protein Interaction Laboratory – Dioscuri Center headed by Prof. Gracjan Michlewski was established at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw.
The German partner of the center project is Juri Rappsilber from the Institute of Technical Biotechnology of the University of Berlin. Scientists will study the cellular roles and structural characteristics of novel RNA binding proteins (RBPs) and the interactions between RNA and proteins. They will focus on RNA-protein interactions in the innate immune response to RNA viruses such as influenza.
Dioscuri is an initiative of the Max Planck Society, carried out jointly with the National Science Center and financed by the Polish Ministry of Education and Science and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The program aims to support the development of Centers of Scientific Excellence in Central and Eastern Europe.
