National Science Center to spend over PLN 36 million for Polish-Chinese research cooperation

30.04.2019

In total, almost PLN 36.4 million will be transferred by the National Science Center (NCN) to Polish-Chinese scientific research as part of the recently announced SHENG 1 competition. Applicants could raise funds for basic research in life sciences, technical sciences and selected social disciplines.

– The first SHENG competition was a pilot in many respects. For the first time, Polish scientists could obtain such significant funds to finance direct cooperation with Chinese researchers in the field of basic research. Interestingly, the conclusions were evaluated in a two-track procedure – independently by our experts and by experts from the Chinese agency. The final list of projects qualified for funding was created after comparing these two assessments and agreeing on the positions of both agencies – emphasized Prof. Zbigniew Błocki, director of NCN.

According to the National Science Center, 30 projects will receive financial support. The total budget of the awarded grants is PLN 36 377 384.
