The consortium of the Silesian University of Technology and the Łukasiewicz Research Network – the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals in Gliwice joined the Network of Regional Specialist Observatories. Enhancing the network with an observatory in the field of production technology and material processing will help improve the management of the development of regional scientific and technological potential.

The goal of the network, created in 2013, is to develop communication and cooperation, as well as provide the data exchange between business and the scientific and research environment as well as institutions of business environment.

After the admission of new members, the network will include seven observatories, which will allow to assure a comprehensive way of managing the protechnological development of the region in a broad partnership coordinated by the voivodship self-government. The partnership is to be systematically expanded in accordance with the eight technological areas designated in the Technology Development Program of the Silesian Voivodship.
