On 1 April 2019, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki appointed Michał Szaniawski as acting president of the Polish Space Agency (PAK).
Michał Szaniawski replaced Dr Grzegorz Brona who resigned. He is a graduate of Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium) and the University of Warsaw. He also completed specialist courses at the International Space University in Strasbourg and the Wirtschaftsuniversität in Vienna. In recent years, Szaniawski was the vice president of the Industrial Development Agency, and also an adviser to Jadwiga Emilewicz, Minister of Entrepreneurship and Technology. During this time, he was responsible for creating the Space Technology Sector Support Program in Poland and negotiations on Poland’s accession to the European Space Situation Awareness Program (EUSST). From November 2018, he was a member of the Council of the Polish Space Agency.
