The Main Library of the Medical University of Wrocław will carry out a project ‘The contribution of Wrocław gynaecology, obstetrics and paediatrics to the development of European medicine in the 19th/20th century’. The grant for the research comes from the programme ‘Social Responsibility of Science II’, organised by the Ministry of Education and Science.
As part of the task, a team of library staff will undertake the formal and factual compilation, as well as the inclusion in the collection and making available in online catalogues, of publications on gynaecology, obstetrics and paediatrics that were published in the 19th and 20th centuries.
“These are mainly German publications, with a smaller proportion in French and Polish. They are dominated by textbooks, monographs, atlases in the fields of gynaecology, urogynaecology, women’s diseases, obstetrics, mother and child care and newborn care”, says library director Dominika Sidorska.
