The Faculty of Fine Arts at the Nicolaus Copernicus University (UMK) in Toruń has established cooperation with two universities from the Philippines: the University of the Philippines and the University of St Thomas in Manila.

The establishment of cooperation with the University of the Philippines creates many opportunities for the staff and students of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Toruń university, both in the area of education and research cooperation (especially in the field of art conservation) and the use of the extensive exhibition space.

The second Philippine partner of the UMK Faculty of Fine Arts is the University of St Thomas in Manila. The collaboration will be inaugurated by a project to study the making technique and determine the state of preservation of the first edition of Nicolaus Copernicus’ book De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium. The analysis of the condition of the Manila copy of Copernicus’ work will form the basis for the next planned stage, namely the conservation-restoration activities of the valuable old print.
