The Senate, the upper house of the Polish parliament, voted unanimously for the amendment of the law on nurse and midwife professions. According to this amendment, education in nursing and midwifery is allowed to be carried out in an extramural form.
The amendment will be now signed by the president. It assumes that the first-cycle program in nursing and midwifery, carried out in an extramural form, its duration and number of hours of these studies will be the same as the studies conducted in a regular form.
According to the amendment, nurses and midwives will be able to take a paid training leave – up to 6 working days a year. This leave can be used for participation in conferences and scientific courses.
