“Financial capabilities of the Jagiellonian states in the sixteenth century in terms of comparative approach” – this is the title of the project, which will be jointly implemented by scientists from the University of Bialystok and the University of Kaunas in Lithuania.
Researchers will receive nearly PLN 1 million from the National Science Center, as part of the recently-finalized DAINA competition organized jointly with the Lithuanian Scientific Council. The head of the project on behalf of the University of Bialystok will be Dr. Piotr Guzowski from the Faculty of History and Sociology, on behalf of the Lithuanian side – Dr. Marius Sirutavičius.
The main objective of the project is to examine the financial capabilities of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 16th century (1492-1586). The researchers want to calculate the amount of tax revenue, estimate the income of a monarch, examine the credit market at the time and flow of funds between the two Jagiellonian states.
