One of the greatest Polish climbers visits the Maria Curie Skłodowska University

The Polish Geographical Society, Lublin Branch, Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management, Maria Curie Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin and the High Mountain Club Lublin are inviting participants to a meeting with Leszek Cichy – a climber and mountaineer.

Leszek Cichy has been climbing continuously since 1969. On February 17, 1980, together with Krzysztof Wielicki, as the first climbers conquered Mount Everest in the winter. Cichy was also a participant in the first winter expedition to K2, and the first Pole who won the Crown of the Earth.

The meeting is related to the 40th anniversary of the first ever winter climb Mount Everest. During the event, he will promote the last book by Leszek Cichy, Marek Kamiński and Julia Hameria, entitled “Three poles. Touch the impossible. ”

The event will take place on December 19, 2019 at 17.15 in the assembly hall of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University.
