More than PLN 41 million has been received by Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce as compensation for the transfer of real estate, buildings and infrastructure to the newly established Piotrkowska Academy. The symbolic cheque was presented to the rector of the university by the Minister of Education, Krzysztof Szczucki.
The law establishing the Piotrkowska Academy was passed by the Sejm in March this year and signed by President Andrzej Duda in April. The new public university was established on the basis of the branch of the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce, which operated in Piotrków Trybunalski. The UJK branch had been operating in Piotrków Trybunalski since 1981, initially as a branch of the Higher School of Pedagogy in Kielce.
The university inaugurated its activities in June 2023. At the academy, studies are offered in the fields of administration, national security, economics, philology, English philology, finance and accounting, history, logistics, pedagogy, pre-school and early childhood education, nursing and management.
