Presenting the situation of social communication and media sciences in Poland in the last five years was the aim of a conference organised by the Committee on Social Communication and Media Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN).

The event, held on 9 November, discussed the phenomenon of information overproduction, the mechanism of disinformation, fact-checking and fake-news. Also the experts discussed the changes in the media market in Poland, the status of public media, legislative initiatives regulating the media market and the condition of the journalistic community.

The conference also discussed the report ‘Research and teaching map of social communication and media sciences in Poland’. The conclusions included were drawn up by the Committee on the basis of research conducted as part of its 2021-2022 tasks.
