Prof. Przemysław Marciniak and Dr Katarzyna Warcaba from the University of Silesia organized the panel “Byzantine Animal Studies: Texts, Contexts, Methodologies” and submitted it for the annual conference “Byzantine Studies Association of North America”. They obtained funding for it from The Mary Jaharis Center for Byzantine Art and Culture.
The panel will gather also Byzantine specialists from the Czech Republic, Germany and France, will be devoted to the issues of interaction between humans and animals in Byzantium and ways of presenting animals in Byzantine literature. Lecture by Prof. Przemysław Marciniak will be entitled “(Micro) history of Byzantine insects”.
This year’s conference The Byzantine Studies Association of North America, which gathers Byzantine researchers from around the world every year, will be held in American Madison (Wisconsin) from 17 to 20 October.
