Tomasz Urbanowicz, a graduate of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology and Konrad Urbanowicz, a PhD student at the Faculty of Architecture are the authors of the concept of the Monument to the Cursed Soldiers under the competition announced by the Wrocław city hall. The monument should arouse respect to a large group of soldiers who were tragically experienced in the fight for free Poland after the end of World War II.
The authors have assumed the creation of nine sculptures of soldiers placed in the casts of thick plastic glass. Plastics will allow to move the imagination vividly, mysteriously and it constantly plays with light and shadow.
The soldier silhouettes will be positioned inside the casts in different directions what make them more or less visible depending on the angle of observation of the moving viewers. This symbolizes the underground activity of soldiers or attempts to erase them from history by the communist authorities.
