PhD student at the Silesian University of Technology Eng. Mateusz Wrazidło received the Kolos award in the Travel category. The jury of this travel competition appreciated a student for his sensitivity and empathy towards the local community as well as persistence and reliability during the documentation of Tepui in Guyana, completed with the publication of scientific research.
Mateusz Wrazidło is a PhD student associated with the Department of Fundamentals of Machine Design at the Silesian University of Technology. His scientific attention, however, is focused mainly on the study of the environment of Pantepua – a region located in South America. He recently exposed errors in the geographic nomenclature of South America in the naming of the table mountains locally known as “tepui”, which lie near the border between Guyana and Venezuela.
Kolos prizes are honorary travel awards granted annually for achievements in the past year. The awards are presented during the Polish Meetings of Travelers, Sailors and Mountaineers.
