Physicist from the University of Warsawto receives the Humboldt Research Award

In the last competition for Humboldt Research Award, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation awarded Prof. Jerzy Lewandowski from the Faculty of Physics at the University of Warsaw for his scientific achievements.

Professor Jerzy Lewandowski from the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw is the head of the Department of Theory of Relativity and Gravity at the Institute of Theoretical Physics. He deals with the geometric theory of black holes and gravitational waves in space-time, as well as the general theory of relativity. He is the author of numerous scientific publications, and in 2016 he received the membership of The International Society on General Relativity and Gravitation.

Nomination of Prof. Lewandowski was reported by Prof. Thomas K. Thiemann from the German Friedrich-Alexander-Universität. Thanks to the Humboldt Research Award, the Polish physicist will carry out his research project in cooperation with specialists in Germany.
