The National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) will allocate PLN 150 million from the European Funds for Social Development programme to subsidise projects in the “Accessibility of Higher Education Entities” competition.
NCBR is thus helping Polish universities to open up to students with special needs.
“Our experience shows that higher education institutions are willingly and confidently committed to eliminating barriers to access to study. We are not only talking about architectural barriers, but also organisational ones, related to the lack of appropriate teaching aids or even knowledge about different types of disabilities. To ensure equal opportunities, both good ideas and funds for their implementation are needed”, says Dr Jacek Orzeł, Director of NCBR.
Applications for funding can be submitted until 18 January 2024 by universities and research units running doctoral schools that have not yet implemented projects in the three rounds of the “Accessible university” competition under the Knowledge Education Development programme, or those that have only implemented them in the MINI path, which gives a chance to start basic activities aimed at creating a university accessible to all.
