Łukasiewicz – The Industrial Institute of Automotive Engineering (PIMOT) was the first organisation in Poland to carry out tests of an autonomous vehicle in traffic conditions on public roads. Among other things, it verified the operation of the algorithms responsible for controlling the car.
The aim of the tests was to verify the operation of algorithms responsible for controlling the executive systems of the automated vehicle (responsible for turning, braking, acceleration), mapping the terrain, planning the vehicle’s path and recognising and identifying surrounding objects.
The drives were carried out in a variety of conditions, including daytime, after dark and during snowfall. The data collected will be used to further develop the proprietary solutions and to build the unique knowledge and experience required to support the automotive industry.
“Łukasiewicz – PIMOT aims to become an R&D leader in the area of vehicle autonomisation,” emphasises Witold Luty, director of Łukasiewicz – PIMOT.
