The Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań (IPC PAS) has launched the open-access molecular genetics laboratory of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Its main task is research targeting the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The laboratory uses in its research the proprietary MediPAN genetic tests developed at the IPC PAS. Its offer is soon to be extended to the diagnosis of Lyme disease: serological tests recommended by WHO and PCR tests recommended for carrying out immediately after suspicion of Lyme disease, as well as testing the tick for the presence of Borrelia bacteria by real-time PCR.

The diagnosis of Lyme disease is important because the number of infected ticks is constantly increasing, as well as the awareness of doctors about this disease. The offer of the laboratory will be gradually increased along with the needs of society.
