Professor Peter B. Reich from the University of Minnesota and Prof. Jacek Oleksyn from the Institute of Dendrology of the Polish Academy of Sciences became the laureates of the Polish-American Scientific Award 2018.
According to the Foundation for Polish Science, they were honored for their achievements in the field of environmental protection and botany.
The aim of the award is to emphasize the importance of Polish-American scientific cooperation and to present the results of mutually complementing activities of each researcher. It is always granted to a pair of scientists, one working in Poland and the other in the USA, for outstanding scientific achievement resulting from joint research. The prize amounts to USD 5,000 for each of the winners.
The prize is awarded jointly by the Foundation for Polish Science and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the world’s largest multidisciplinary scientific association.
