As part of the Polish-German intergovernmental consultations held in Warsaw, Jarosław Gowin, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Science and Higher Education, with Anja Karliczek, the Federal Minister for Education and Research, signed a declaration of cooperation in the area of research and development.

The topic of talks between the heads of the Polish and German science ministries was the cooperation of the National Science Center with the Max Planck Society as part of the DIOSCURI Program, which aims to create Centers of Scientific Excellence in Central and Eastern Europe. The discussion also focused on strengthening the participation of Polish scientists in European Union programs and cooperation in the field of the European Research Area.

In the signed declaration both ministers undertook to support research projects as the main element of bilateral cooperation. The document underlines the importance of cooperation in the fields of science, research, development and innovation.
