The Council of Ministers has adopted a draft law on supporting scientific activities from the Polish Science Fund submitted by Minister of Science and Higher Education Jarosław Gowin.
The act will create a new mechanism for financing research and development works and their commercialization. The fund is to support the creation of virtual research institutes, providing stable public funding at a level that allows achieving a specific effect in a selected area of science over a period of 5-10 years.
– The adoption of the project on the Polish Science Fund is an important milestone on the road to enriching Polish science and the Polish economy with this component of knowledge that we all need so much – said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. Also, the deputy minister of science Piotr Müller stressed that the creation of virtual research institutes is an opportunity especially for Polish outstanding scientists dealing with biotechnology and biomedicine. The amount of 500 million PLN will be directed to research in these areas.
