The University of Warsaw was ranked 394, the Jagiellonian University in Kraków occupied 411, and the Warsaw University of Technology took 601-650 position, in the latest QS World University Rankings.
The ranking presents 1000 best universities around the world. This year there were 14 universities from Poland included in it. QS World University Ranking is prepared by the British company Quacquarelli Symmonds, which publishes analyses devoted to education and studying abroad. It is one of the four most important global educational rankings alongside Times Higher Education, Shanghai Ranking and U-Multirank.
Six criteria are evaluated in the assessment of the statement: reputation in the academic environment, prestige among employers, the ratio of the number of lecturers to the number of students, the number of citations and the number of foreign students and employees.
The first three in the ranking are US universities: Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University and Harvard University.
