In 97 Polish cities there are 369 higher education institutions with 1.3 million students studying at them, of which 235.5 thousand study in Warsaw. Analysts of the Polish Economic Institute have pointed out that the most academic cities in Poland are Warsaw, Kraków, Poznań and Wrocław.
The report “Academicity of Polish cities” prepared by the Polish Economic Institute shows that a university does not guarantee the inflow of young people. Students focus less on the high standard of teaching and the prestige of the institution, and more on the offer of courses, and precisely whether they are consistent with their interests and future-oriented.
The five most important factors included the ease of finding a job in a given city or the costs of studying. An attractive job market along with high wages also determines whether students are planning their future in the city in which they have obtained education.
