Four Polish institutions joined the ranking list of the European Commission competition SC1-PHE-CORONAVIRUS-2020 (Advancing knowledge for the clinical and public health response to the COVID-19 epidemic).

From eleven Polish applications, the ranking commission selected Space Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Squadron Sp. z o.o., the Polish Center for International Aid for one project HERoS (Health Emergency Response in Interconnected Systems) under Finnish coordination. In addition, the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology will participate in the EXSCALATE4CoV (EXaSCale smArt pLatform Against paThogEns for CoronaVirus) project.

The whole ranking includes a total of 17 projects involving 136 research teams, selected for funding. The ongoing work will concern epidemiology and public health, including readiness and response to epidemics, rapid PoC diagnostic tests, new treatment methods and the development of new vaccines.
