Prof. Wanda Olech-Piasecka from the Department of Genetics and Animal Protection at the Institute of Animal Sciences at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW), has been nominated for the prestigious global Indianapolis Prize 2023, awarded for outstanding achievements in animal protection.
Prof. Wanda Olech-Piasecka is involved in the conservation of the European bison. She initiated and led the Bison Conservation Centre, an international network of bison breeders across Europe. She also serves as president of the European Bison Friends Society.
The nominees for the Indianapolis Prize 2023 are a representation of the most prominent ecologists involved in the protection and conservation of animal species. The selection of the Indianapolis Prize finalists and winner is a two-stage evaluation system conducted by the Prize’s Nominations Committee and a Jury of international experts and ecologists. The finalists and winner will be honoured at the Indianapolis Prize Gala on 30 September 2023.
