During this year’s XV World Forest Congress in Curitiba (Brazil), Prof. Piotr Paschalis-Jakubowicz, retired employee of the Department of Forest Utilization of the Faculty of Forestry of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) in Warsaw, received the International Union of Forest Research Organization (IUFRO) Award for outstanding research achievements.

IUFRO rewards unawarded earlier achievements related to the dissemination of knowledge related to forest research, forestry and forest sciences. Only one such award was granted during the World Forest Congress in Brazil.

The International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) was established by several European and North American countries in 1892. It is an international cooperation network of many organizations of over 15,000 scientists from nearly 700 member organizations in over 110 countries.
