Scientists from the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection of the University of Łódź, Wrocław University of Technology, Kraków University of Technology and Łukasiewicz – Institute of Ceramics and Building Materials, are working on an implant that will not only accelerate bone damage healing, but also have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.

The project “Multifunctional bioactive composites for applications in regenerative medicine of the skeletal system” may prove to be a breakthrough in the development of regenerative medicine.

The aim of the project is to develop new polymer-ceramic composite biomaterials for use in regenerative medicine of the skeletal system.

The project has been running for two years. Scientists already know which substances and in what concentrations and forms can support bone regeneration processes.

The implant being developed as part of the project is to contain previously studied components that are most beneficial to the renewal process during the regeneration of damaged bone tissue.
