In the World’s TOP 2% Scientists 2022 list, Poland is represented by 1058 representatives in the list covering the entire research career and 1092 in the list of achievements for the last year only.
TOP 2% Scientists 2021 consists of two separate lists. The first assesses scientific achievements from a research career (using data from 1960 onwards), while the second only considers publications and citations from the last calendar year.
The list concerning scientific careers includes 1058 researchers from Poland – they represent 163 scientific institutions (universities and research institutes). In contrast, the previous year’s list included 1092 Poles from 165 institutions.
The ranking is prepared by Stanford University in cooperation with the Elsevier publishing house.
The TOP 2% ranking was based on the scientific output of individual researchers according to a bibliometric index. The evaluation criteria were the Hirsch index, the number of citations (including self-citations), the Impact Factor and the place and role in the authors’ list.
