Polish scientists rated in the World’s Top 2% Scientists list

PLOS Biology Journal has published the list of the World’s Top 2% Scientists rating scholars in terms of citation of their research papers.

The list includes 159,683 researchers from all countries of the world, which constitutes about 2% of all scientists meeting the criteria of the ranking. The scientists represent various fields and disciplines of science.

The ranking list includes 723 Polish scientists, including 45 researchers of the University of Warsaw.

The highest ranked Polish researcher, at the position of 4 588, is Prof. Tomasz Dietl, scientist of the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

He is a specialist in the field of semiconductor physics, low temperature physics, magnetics physics, spintronics and nanotechnology. He was recognized for pioneering research in ferromagnetic semiconductors and for the development of methods for controlling magnetic ordering and quantum location of carriers. This paved the way for the start of a new field of science: semiconductor spintronics.
