Researchers from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow and the Krakow University of Technology as well as doctors from the Oncology Center in Krakow have created a consortium Dose-3D, which aims to create a medical phantom for precise dose planning in radiotherapy.

Teleradiotherapy is basically one of the most important methods of fighting with cancer- said Prof. Tomasz Szumlak from the Faculty of Physics and Applied Computer Science of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow.

The phantom is to enable adaptation to the needs of each patient both the dose and the angle of incidence of the radiation beam in such a way as not to damage healthy tissues. The project is expected to revolutionize techniques for measuring radiation dose distribution and personalization in radiation therapy, which is the most-used method for treating cancer patients.
