Scientists from the Rzeszów University of Technology and the University of Technology and Life Sciences in Bydgoszcz are working out a device for active cooling of LED lighting fixtures.
Research and development project “The development of an innovative device for cooling industrial LED luminaires using synthetic streams” is implemented as part of the LIDER program held by the National Center for Research and Development. The work is managed by Dr Eng. Paweł Gil from Rzeszów University of Technology.
The goal of the project is to develop a device for active cooling of LED luminaires, which will replace classic passively cooled items. Commercially available industrial LED luminaires (so-called HIGHBAY) are not only more expensive than classic lighting, but also have a relatively low durability. It is caused by overheating of diodes, which require intensive cooling, especially in industrial conditions.
The project is financed by the National Center for Research and Development. Its budget is nearly PLN 1.5 million. The works will last until December 31, 2022.
