Poland will gain access to data and services related to “situational awareness” in space, such as warnings about collisions, fragmentation or uncontrolled entry into the atmosphere of satellite objects. They will be provided by the 18th Air Force Space Command’s 18th Space Control Squadron.
Polish-American agreements in this matter were signed by Michał Szaniawski, President of the Polish Space Agency (PAK) and Admiral Richard Correll, Director of Strategies and Strategies of the United States (United States Strategic Command – USSTRATCOM) during the 35th Space Symposium in Colorado Springs in the USA.
The signing of the agreement will help develop Polish competence in situational awareness in space, including in particular the development of the national SSA Operational Center, whose activities will serve strengthening the security of Polish and allied satellites in space – said Michał Szaniawski.
