The Jagiellonian University in Krakow and the University of Warsaw were jointly ranked 321st in the latest international WEBOMETRICS ranking, which was prepared by Cybermetrics Lab – the largest research group in Spain.
This ranking checks the visibility of universities and their achievements online.
According to the authors of the study, the activity of research centers in the network is based not only on bibliometric data. Therefore, Cybermetrics Lab includes formal communication (e-journals, repositories) and informal scientific communication. Hence, the research methodology focuses not only on the analysis of citations, but also internet indicators. The ranking is based on the analysis of three indicators:
– Visibility – the number of external networks connecting to university websites
– Transparency / Openness – number of citations from 210 top scientists
– Excellence – the number of works among the 10% most often cited in each of the 27 scientific disciplines.
This year, Washington University took the first place in the world.
