PGNiG, the largest gas company in Poland, will use special drones to create precise maps and plans necessary for oil and gas exploration and for detection of gas leaks.
The company has been running an InnVento startup incubator for several years. The part of this project, startup BZB Uas develops, among others, drones with special sensors. Such drones are of particular interest to Polska Spółka Gazownictwa – the operator of the gas distribution network as according to the regulations, gas pipelines must be inspected from the air at least once a year. Currently, helicopters are used for this purpose. Controlling by drones is believed to be faster and cheaper.
