The Management Board of the Polish State Railways Cargo (Polskie Koleje Państwowe) announced that it had signed a letter of intent with the company Pesa Bydgoszcz regarding the construction of a dual-engine diesel-electric locomotive. A similar letter with the Pesa was concluded with the Polish Intercity State Railways as part of the Luxtorpeda 2.0 program implemented by the National Center for Research and Development in 2016.

– The Parties are interested in establishing cooperation for the implementation of joint ventures in the area of research and development for the construction of a new generation of railway vehicles, in particular of a double-engine (diesel) electric locomotive for running freight trains on electrified and non-electrified lines and an autonomous locomotive.
