Nearly a month’s worth of experiments and tests conducted at the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Centre (PSNC) on new equipment for the digitisation of cultural assets using equipment and templates purchased from the DARIAH project have concluded. The tests were successfully completed with the highest score.

The PSNC New Media Department tested, among other things, the new Phase One camera and Capture One software with Golden Thread templates. The tests were based on the technical recommendations of FADGI (Federal Agencies Digitisation Guidelines Initiative). Four stars,  the maximum quality of preservation of cultural assets, were achieved in all tests.

FADGI is the federal organisation for digitisation in the USA, its guidelines are concerned with the technical parameters and methods of digitisation. The scope of FADGI is limited to the process of digitising immovable objects (images), such as manuscripts, books, graphic illustrations, artwork, maps, plans, photographs or aerial photographs.
