The Poznań University of Medical Sciences has launched a diagnostic laboratory for SARS-CoV-2 virus determination. This is not the only help the university has offered in the combat against the epidemic. Over 200 volunteers are currently working at Poznań hospitals and Sanitary Departments, supporting medical workers.
The University has signed an agreement with the Greater Poland Sanitary and Epidemiological Station, from where the samples for research will be sent.
– We estimate that on a monthly basis we will be ready to make ca. 4.000 markings -. We have all the equipment to perform both genetic isolation and PCR – says Prof. Krzysztof Książek, head of the Poznan University Apparatus Center.
With adequate availability of laboratory kits, it will be possible to increase the number of tests and support Poznań hospitals involved in the combat against COVID-19.
