Prof. Roman Slowinski from the Institute of Informatics, at the Faculty of Informatics and Telecommunications at Poznan University of Technology has been awarded the prestigious Humboldtpreis prize by the AvH Foundation.
Prof. Slowinski is a world-renowned scientist, and his research topics include automation, robotics and computer science and optimisation. He specialises in operations research, computer-based decision support and artificial intelligence. He has been a full member of the Polish Academy of Sciences since 2013 and vice-president of the Academy for the 2019-2022 term.
His scientific activity is best evidenced by more than 500 publications, and more than a dozen books. He is a laureate of the “Polish Nobel Prize”, the 2005 award of the Foundation for Polish Science, and has received honorary doctorates from universities in Belgium, France and Greece. He has been editor-in-chief of the European Journal of Operational Research for more than 20 years and is a member of the editorial board of more than twenty other scientific journals.
