About 800 scientists will participate in the congress of the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences, which will be held in Poznań on August 27-31.
Scientists from 75 countries around the world will meet at the Collegium Historicum of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. The theme of the congress is “World Solidarities”.
The concepts of compassion, community and solidarity are now particularly important at a time when global warming and social inequalities are forcing entire populations to migrate and causing the growth of exclusion ideologies.
Participants in the event include many prominent representatives of science: Prof. Chris Hann from the University of Cambridge, director of the Max Planck Institute in Halle in the field of social anthropology, who will give an inaugural lecture, and Prof. Alisse Waterston from the City University of New York – former president of the American Anthropological Association.
