President Andrzej Duda’s signature has ended the legislative process, allowing to establish the Zamość Academy on September 1, 2021. The new academy will be based on the existing the Szymon Szymonowic Higher School in Zamość.
The first rector of the academy will be appointed by the minister responsible for higher education. He will also give the first statute to the Zamość Academy.
In modern times, the reactivated academy should fulfil the mission in the spirit of the principles of pietas literata, Deo et Patriae, expressed in the motto: God Honor Homeland, that for over two centuries has formed the elite of the Polish nation.
Students, as well as participants of postgraduate studies, specialist education and other forms of education at the Szymon Szymonowicz Higher School will turn into students or participants of postgraduate studies, specialist education and other forms of education at the Zamość Academy, respectively.
The act will enter into force 14 days after its promulgation.
