The President of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) has set up an interdisciplinary advisory team for COVID-19, whose main tasks include monitoring the course of the epidemic in Poland, analyzing possible scenarios and developing recommendations.
The team was headed by Prof. Jerzy Duszyński, president of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Prof. Krzysztof Pyrć, head of the Laboratory of Virology of the Lesser Poland Biotechnology Center of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow became his deputy. The secretary is Dr Aneta Afelt from the Interdisciplinary Center for Mathematical and Computational Modeling of the University of Warsaw.
Team members will monitor the status of the epidemic threat in Poland on an ongoing basis, prepare recommendations for a possible new wave of the pandemic and prepare documents summarizing the experience of the stages of the fight against COVID-19. They will also establish cooperation with similar groups in other countries to exchange experiences of the fight with coronavirus.
