President of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) Prof. Jerzy Duszyński, awarded five researchers representing various fields of science for outstanding scientific achievements in 2020.
The scientific awards of the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences for 2020 were awarded to:
Prof. Michał Tymowski, a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, for his research achievements in the field of history, with particular emphasis on the history of pre-colonial Africa and political anthropology.
Dr Tomasz Podgórski, Mammal Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences for a series of studies on the mechanisms of the spread of African swine fever (ASF) in the wild boar population in Poland.
Prof.. Lidia Dzierzbicka-Głowacka, Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the use of mathematical models and computer simulations as new methods of recognizing processes in the marine environment.
Prof. Jan Węglarz, a full member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, for creating a scientific school in the field of operations research and its applications in computer science.
Prof. Grzegorz Opolski, a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, for research on heart diseases, in particular, compensated coronary disease, acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, among others in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
