The President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, signed a law enabling the establishment of the Higher School of Border Guards, as well as changing the names of the Higher Police School in Szczytno to the Police Academy in Szczytno and the Main School of Fire Service to the Firefighter Academy. The ceremony took place at the Central Border Guard Training Centre in Koszalin.

‘This act is of historical and fundamental significance for the education provided by these formations, and thus also for their future, for the education of personnel, for the education of young people for these formations and for the Republic in general, for the service of our Republic, for all of us’, said President Andrzej Duda.

He also emphasised that with this act, the Firefighter Academy and the Police Academy in Szczytno are promoted, which underlines their scientific importance. The President pointed out that both these universities gain the status of academies, which in turn will give them new development opportunities.
