Forty individuals and one research team were among the winners of the Prime Minister’s Awards for Achievements in Scientific Activity in 2021.
Nine of the awardees are representatives of the University of Warsaw, and seven work for institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In total, the awards were presented to representatives of 27 scientific entities.
The laureates include: Prof. Andrzej Dziembowski from the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw, for discovering new mechanisms of gene expression regulation through modifications of the 3′ end of mRNA (biological sciences); Prof. Andrzej Janeczek, Prof. Zdzisław Budzyński, Dr Waldemar Mieczysław Bukowski, Prof. Bogusław Stanisław Dybaś, Dr Zdzisław Stanisław Noga of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the source publication Galicia on the Austrian topographic map 1779-1783 (history); Prof. Krzysztof Pachucki of the University of Warsaw for quantum-mechanical calculations of spectroscopic parameters for light molecules with unprecedented accuracy (physical sciences).
