Dr Dominika Kulig and Dr Anna Gliszczyńska from the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences of the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences have received prizes of the prime minister for PhD dissertations and the achievements being the basis for their postPhD degree.
Dr Dominika Kulig works in the research group “BioActive Team” dealing with the development of innovative methods for food preservation. The aim of her PhD thesis was to produce materials for use as edible casings for food products – in particular raw meat and its products. These materials are of natural origin and are formed on the basis of biodegradable polymers.
Dr Anna Gliszczyńska was awarded for receiving a new generation of environmentally friendly biopesticides that selectively reduce populations of harmful insects. They are also effective in the prevention and therapy of cancer diseases based on natural origin compounds.
