Prof. Andrzej Szarata has been elected the new rector of the Kraków University of Technology (PK). In the by-election, the hitherto Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at PK defeated his only opponent, Prof. Dariusz Bogdał.
The new rector takes up his post on the day of his election and will hold it until the end of the current 2020-2024 term, i.e. until 31 August 2024. The by-election was held at PK following the death of the previous rector, Prof. Andrzej Białkiewicz, in March this year.
‘I hope to contribute to the further flourishing of Kraków University of Technology and look forward to working with all members of our university community. We have an important time ahead of us. We must not squander what we have achieved so far; we must seize new opportunities for further development. Kraków University of Technology has been ranked among the top three universities in Poland in terms of the results of the evaluation of scientific activity for the years 2017-2021. This is a very high bar to set’, said Prof. Andrzej Szarata after his election.
