Until Monday 30th of April students can apply for the lecture of Prof. Daniela Gianola at the University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław. This outstanding specialist in the field of mathematical statistics used in natural sciences will be a guest of the university on 13-14 of April.
Modern genetics cannot exist without mathematical statistics, because it is a tool in the analysis of so-called attributes with a complex model of inheritance – says Prof. Joanna Szyda from the Department of Genetics at the Faculty of Biology and Animal Breeding. In her opinion, the application of mathematical statistics and computer science in biology is the basis of modern data analysis.
The competence of Prof. Gianola is the application of mathematical statistics methods in genomics, with particular emphasis on applications to livestock and to the analysis of features with a complex model of inheritance. Professor Gianola began as a World Bank expert and later worked at the Universities of Illinois and Wisconsin-Madison.
