Prof. Eng. Jacek Namieśnik, the rector of the Gdańsk University of Technology, who died in April 2019, was once again listed in the prestigious list of the most cited scientists in the world Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers 2020.

The report published by Clarivate (formerly Thomson Reuters) is a compilation of the most cited scientists of the world. The list is created basing on the number of citations, taking into account only highly cited articles (in the highest 1% citations in a given field and year of publication) published in journals indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection in the last eleven years.

This year’s report included over 6.4 thousand scientists from over 60 countries with 26 Nobel laureates. Once again, the largest number of scientists on the prestigious list were from the USA. Harvard University retained the strongest position among other universities (188 scientists).
