The Institute of Polish Philology of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan invites participants to the Sniadecki Hall on the 10th of April for a lecture by Prof. Jarosław Włodarczyk, “Shakespeare’s Cosmos: between the history of astronomy and digital humanities.” Professor Jarosław Włodarczyk is an outstanding expert on the history of astronomy, director of the Institute of the History of Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw and a historian of astronomy. His research include issues of the history of astronomy, the links between the history of science and the history of culture, and the relationship between natural sciences and humanities.
His publications comprehensively illuminate the relationship between astronomy, Polish literature and general literature, and one example of it are his books: “Moon in science and culture of the West”; “Wandering blue, or the Universe, not only for poets”; “Mystery of the Bethlehem Star”; “Sherlock Holmes and the code of the universe”; and “Astrology. History, myths, secrets”.
