Prof. Krzysztof Marian Górski nominated as candidate for the post of Secretary General of the Copernican Academy

The Minister of Education and Science, Przemysław Czarnek, has sent a request to President Andrzej Duda for the appointment of Prof. Krzysztof Marian Górski as Secretary General of the Copernican Academy.

The Copernican Academy is intended to increase the competitiveness and contribute to greater recognition of Polish science in the world. Its main task is the implementation of the National Copernican Programme, which includes: funding of scientific research; support for Nicolaus Copernicus High School; the awarding of Copernican Prizes; the appointment of Ambassadors of the Copernican Academy and the granting of financial support for tasks carried out by them; the organisation of the World Copernican Congress.

The term of office of the Secretary General lasts seven years. His tasks include the day-to-day management of the Academy’s activities and representing it externally.

Prof. Krzysztof Górski is an eminent scientist. He has worked at a NASA laboratory in the United States and at the same time at the University of Warsaw. “He will fulfil this task very well”, assured Minister Czarnek.
